The coach of a children’s swimming group hugs and kisses one of the boys, who is crying during a swimming lesson because he is afraid of the water and does not want to take off his back float. The gesture engenders complaints from some of the parents and spawns a spiral of mistrust that will bring about all kinds of suspicions, prejudices, and fears.

Premiered 4 July 2012 at the Sala Beckett as part of the Grec Festival of Barcelona, directed by Josep M. Miró. Cast: Roser Batalla, Rubén de Eguía, Santi Ricart, and Albert Ausellé. Since then, translated into 15 languages with over a twenty productions and several others underway.

2011 XXXVI Born Prize. The creation of this work benefited from a 2011 grant for the creation of literary works from the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes (Institution of Catalan Letters). 2011 staging project Award from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona; runner-up, 2013 Max Award for Best Catalan-Language Text; and four 2013 XIX Butaca Award Nominations (Best Text, Best Editing, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and Best Scenic Design), 2013 XIX Butaca Award for Best Scenic Design (Enric Planas).

On 26 September 2014, the production began its second season at the Teatro Ciudad Cultural Konex. On 15 January 2015, it began its third season at the Teatro Apolo. After the final performance on 15 March, the season was temporarily extended until 5 April 2015. Cast: Beatriz Spelzini, Martin Slipak, Nelson Rueda, Juan Minujín (first season), Alejandro Paker (second season), Esteban Meloni (third season) and Luis Gritti (tour).

The play received 7 nominations for the 2014 ACE Awards (Asociación de Cronistas de Espectáculos): Best Drama; Best Director (Corina Fiorillo); Best Actor in a Leading role (Juan Minujín); Best Actress in a Leading Role (Beatriz Spelzini); Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Martín Slipak); Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Nelson Rueda); and Best Sound Design (Rony Keselman). Rony Keselman won the award for Best Sound Design. Beatriz Spelzini was nominated for 2014 Maria Guerrero award for Best Actress. Martín Slipak was nominated for the 2014 Florencio Sánchez award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Ronny Keselman won the 2014 Trinidad Guevara award for Best Sound Design. Critics Moira Soto, Federico Irazábal, Carlos Pacheco, and Laura Ventura ranked the play as one of the ten best performances of 2014 in the annual theatre summary in the Argentine newspaper La Nación.

El principi d’Arquimedes, was one of ten texts selected by Acción Cultural Española AC/E (under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) within the Program for the Internationalization of Contemporary Spanish Authors, with the aim of translating the text into several languages and facilitating the staging of the play for professional foreign companies. The country chosen in the first edition is Brazil, and a translation into Brazilian Portuguese has been completed.

Catalan film director Ventura Pons created the cinematic version of the play titled Virus of fear, produced by Els Films la Rambla with the collaboration of TV3. Premiered 4 September 2015 in the World Greats section of the Montreal World Film Festival (Canada).
